What Are You Investing In?
Dr. Scott Marsh
In these days of financial uncertainty, it’s getting more and more risky to invest in almost anything. The “sure thing” of 2005 has become the white elephant of 2010. Even our houses aren’t worth what they were a few short years ago.
There is one sure investment that pays dividends year after year. I’m talking about your family’s health. I’m not talking about mammograms, flu shots and high blood pressure medication. Those are aimed at early detection of disease, symptom control and artificial immunity. I’m not talking about preventing disease…I’m talking about maximizing the health potential of every member of your family.
Let me ask you a question…if you were capable of making $100,000/ year and were making only $25,000 would you be satisfied? There is no morality there…just a simple question. If not, why not? Because you’re capable of more? If that is true of money, how much more does it apply to your health? Are you okay with “just getting by”?
Last week when I invited a mother to have her kids checked for subluxations, she told me, “Well, my kids are pretty healthy.” Not a week later, her son was home sick from school, a trip to the pediatrician, and a prescription for antibiotics. The kids are scheduled for dental check-ups, pediatrician well-visits and flu shots. They make every soccer practice and tennis lesson. But there is apparently no time to have the system that controls every cell in the body examined for early problems BEFORE they become serious or permanent. IT’S TIME TO WAKE UP!!!
If you’re a parent who has entrusted your little ones to our care, thank you for the privilege. It is indeed an honor. However, if you are coming to our office for care and leaving your kids at home to develop the same problems you’re experiencing as an adult, or worse, it’s time to reexamine your priorities. If you need more information, or would like to speak with a parent of one of our little patients to feel more comfortable, just let me know. If you think it’s a financial challenge, ask yourself what your child’s health is worth to you. Only you can answer that question.
Early in practice, I primarily cared for bad backs and necks. I hadn’t really discovered the importance of chiropractic care from birth to death. I hadn’t read the studies about how chiropractic care boosts the immune system. I had the unfortunate experience of watching my step-daughter die in my arms as she struggled to recover from a severe viral infection. Years later, I still wonder if I could have done something proactively to help prepare her for what she would encounter.
I hope and pray that you will never have to go through anything like that. I do know that life throws us curve balls. I do know that whatever you and your family come up against…stress…sickness…physical trauma…you will be more prepared for it if the system that controls virtually every call and adapts you to your environment…your nervous system is functioning at 100%. Now you know. What are you going to do about it?
