Two Types of Patients

In the twenty-seven plus years that I’ve been in practice, I’ve noticed that there are two types of people that come into our office.  As you read this, think of people in your life, and see if you can determine into which category they fall.

The first type of person will do whatever it takes to ensure the health and well-being of themselves and their family.  They are open to new ideas and concepts.  They follow my recommendations, keep their appointments, share what they learn with others, and take an active role in their care.  These people realize that THEY are responsible for their health, and the health of their family.  They also understand that short term sacrifice is always necessary in order to achieve a worthwhile goal.  These people are usually healthier, wealthier and happier as a result.

Then there is the other type of patient…

These people never commit to anything, but they’re the first to argue that they do.  They are always making excuses for why they can’t make their appointments, attend the Health Awareness Seminar, afford the care, or bring in their kids.  These people are usually living paycheck to paycheck, and are always blaming their circumstances on someone else.  They seldom achieve the results they had hoped for in our office or in life in general, and spend their lives going from one disappointment to another.

As you read this, I have one question to ask you, honestly…“Which type of patient are you?”  If you don’t like your answer, then let’s work on making better decisions in the future than you have in the past.

The best way to predict your future is to create it!
