Disabled Due to Constant Pain in My Back

When I first came to see Dr. Scott I was disabled due to constant pain in my back, shoulders and legs. I was sleeping only an hour at a time before the pain awoke me and I had to get out of bed. Dr. Scott explained my problem to me, and kept me informed of my progress throughout my care. I now can sleep for hours at a time, stand much straighter, and have been able to discontinue prescription medications I have been on for thirty years.

Chiropractic Care has Helped my Migraines

“Before coming to Dr. Scott my migraines would last 2-3 days, and then I would be hung over from the prescription medication for several days afterward.  I had even received an injection in my back to try to alleviate the pain associated with the headaches.

After beginning care with Dr. Scott, it has been weeks since I’ve had a headache.  I am actually feeling good and able to spend time with my family.  The staff is very compassionate and caring, and I believe Dr. Scott is a gifted chiropractor who really understands the body and totally cares about his patients, no matter the age.  Thank you so much!!!”

Rylan’s Story

Dr. Scott Marsh, Alcoa ChiropractorRylan was born in November 2005 at full-term and a healthy weight. When he was four months old, he had his first ear infection in his right ear and was prescribed antibiotics. Over the next 20 months, he had seven more ear infections. In March of 2007, he had a severe allergic reaction to an unidentified allergen outside of our house that caused him to begin wheezing and then stop breathing. We rushed him to Children’s Hospital for what would be our first trip of several trips to the emergency room. Rylan was given five albuterol breathing treatments and three steroid breathing treatments before being discharged with a nebulizer to continue treatments at home. His pediatrician diagnosed him with reactive airway disease and prescribed several medications to be taken daily (Zyrtec and Singulair).

That December, we made two trips to the emergency room for issues with his breathing. On the second trip, Rylan was diagnosed with pneumonia and we were told that his lungs were in a life-threatening condition. My husband and I were instructed to give him both steroid and Albuterol treatments daily for nearly four months. These treatments made him irritable, increased his heart rate and made him more susceptible to illness. He would not sleep through the night and often had angry outbursts.

Rylan was unable to run and keep up with other children his age because he would have to stop frequently to catch his breath. We started to notice that he could not jump with both feet, and his right leg seemed to drag. We decided to do some research on the medications he was taking, and I found myself shocked at what we found. My husband and I decided there had to be a better way to improve Rylan’s health and overall quality of life. We just were not sure what that change would be, so we prayed for a solution.

On March 7, 2008, Rylan, my husband and I were in a car accident in which we were rear ended while stopped at a red light. Rylan was asleep during the accident, but we decided to have him examined at the emergency room just in case. The x-rays did not show anything the doctors felt we should be concerned about and he was released.

A few weeks later, I began to experience pain from the auto accident, and I consulted with Dr. Marsh. After attending the special appointment, I decided to take Rylan in for an evaluation as well. I am absolutely ecstatic about what has happened since that time. Now, I often refer to our car accident as the “blessing in disguise.”

Since seeing Dr. Marsh, Rylan no longer takes allergy maintenance medications such as Zyrtec and Singulair. He has not required any breathing treatments and sleeps through the night in his own bed! He now runs non-stop and does not have to stop to catch his breath. He is able to jump, wrestle with his daddy, and no longer has angry outbursts. It is just amazing!

Dr. Marsh told me on Rylan’s very first visit that he appreciated my trusting him with my child. I am the one with all the appreciation. Dr. Marsh has changed my son’s life, and now I feel Rylan has been given an opportunity to be his absolute best because he is healthy. Rylan wakes up in the mornings and says, “I go see Dr. Marsh today?” He knows he feels better now, too. He even sings songs about Dr. Marsh. There aren’t words to fully express my gratitude for giving my child the gift of health.
